Wednesday Wishes

Hi and welcome to another week of Wednesday wishes! I've been craving art this week and since Joe and I are on the verge of moving, we are waiting until we move (in July) to join art forces (mine + his), I am dedicating this weeks post to a few pieces that I've had my eyes on for a while. I am so looking forward to (1.) having more wall space and (2.) displaying art we've collected from independent artists. My collection has taken off after receiving an awesome painting from this talented gal a few weeks ago :) Hopefully there is enough in the budget to include one or more of these great works too! Beautiful Idea

Partnering with A Beautiful Idea a few weeks ago has brought new meaning to the purpose of my craft. I am thrilled to be a part of something bigger than myself. The idea behind A Beautiful Idea is that artists partner with them and create a product(s)and sell them and donate the money to the current charity via A Beautiful Idea’s donation center (currently all donations are going towards the Haiti relief fund.) This print is currently being offered for sale over at there shop. Being able to take what we create and offer it up for a greater good? It's a beautiful idea, for sure ;)

Art Tour

A pen pal of mine recently asked me about sharing some of my work. So I thought this would be a great opportunity to share with all of you a little art tour. I am extremely picky about what goes up, my thinking is, if it doesn't make me smile every time I walk past it, it's not worth hanging up. The first photo is of my living room. Above the couch I have 2 long picture rails, that are just the right size for frames to lean against. I like this option of being able to rotate and rearrange my black and white photos whenever I wish. This wall of photos are my favorite. I love coming home to the people I love the most, my family. Even if I can't see them everyday, they are in my apartment in spirit! The second photo is of my workspace and the art I keep above it are framed prints from my shop. They help keep me inspired and are nestled next to boxes that help keep my supplies in order. All of the frames I use have been rescued from the thrift store or where made in a frame building workshop I took in college. I've spray painted them in neutral colors (silver, white, and cream) so my photos really get to stand out on there own. All of the photos I have up have also been printed either in the darkrooom, or by my Epson R1800 printer. Thanks for taking this little art tour with me. Want to see another fabulous art tour? I've been working on this for a few months and finally am printing limited copies of my 09 desktop calendar. I've transformed some of my favorite images to resemble sketches and printed them on 90 lb. watercolor paper. I'm very happy with the way they came out. Minimalistic and functional....just the way I like it! Being sold here & here.

It's official (for me, that is),Fall is in the air and I'm loving it ;) Inspired by the change in seasons along with experiencing fall during an early morning run with my cousin yesterday I'm happy to show you the fruits of my labor. These are part of my fallen collection in my shop. I hope you enjoy them as much as I am.

{DIY: Thank You Cards}

I've been all about the DIY lately and I'm excited to share my latest creation with you. The great merry go lucky Etsy shop is where I ordered my custom rubber stamp. And the paper I used to stamp these cards on are paint chips from my local Ace Hardware. We had a large collection of them in the studio, so instead of having them go into the trash I put them to good use. With name colors like chic blue & wishful thinking printed on the bottom corner how could I resist. ;)

These original photos were cameras from my collection. I transformed them in Photoshop using the diffuse edge filter to give it a grainy screenprint like look. I have plans to use them as promos and will be adding them to my Etsy shop soon.

My latest obsession for the past few weeks has included creating cute paper banners to express thoughts for any occasion. Made with premium textured cardstock and hand stamped with archival inks, they give anyone reason to display their sentiments freely! Present them to a loved one, friend or neighbor.

{ Polaroid Play }

Ever wish you could have a photograph in polaroid format? That's what I've done with these food photographs. To create them I took a photo of an actual polaroid and erased its photo in Photoshop. I then took my food photograph and played around with its scale to fit inside the polaroid frame! An easy and playful way to display any photo. Print them out to use as a fun "post-it" note by writing on the white border! Love it ;)

One of the things I like best about summer is the abundance of fresh fruits that can be found in local markets or road-side stands. Not only do they symbolize all things summer to me but there shape, color, and imperfections also offer inspiration for me to keep on creating! Enjoy these new photos in my Etsy shop.
