Joe = Tasty Portfolio

Photography: Joe Bankmann

My guy has been working hard in the kitchen!  Here are some of his tastier fare, hmmm.  I can almost smell that peach & blueberry pie! Trust me, it tasted as good as it looks!  A nice little perk to living with a food photographer, there are always some ingredients that didn't quite make the cut.  A few weeks ago we had a produce aisle of heirloom tomatoes in our kitchen.  We had so much that we devoured them in salads for over a week!  Oh, it was difficult to go back to the regular cherry or plum varieties after that! But it's nice to know that there is always an abundance of something else around the corner.  Right now we are slammed with salami!  This could spell trouble :)

Two Years & Many Many More!

Today i'm happily sharing 2 years of living life with my best friend.  It was only 2 years ago when we met up for a game of tennis, had lunch at Sultans Market, and strolled through the Renegade Handmade craft fair. We ended the long day by sharing a bottle of wine while lol-ing at The Office. I knew after our first date that I had found someone special. Fast forward to today and I'm still the happiest girl in the Midwest :)

Summer Comforts

What I love most about the summer months is enjoying all that comfort food can only bring as the temps stay high.  This summer Joe's been in the kitchen a lot cooking up the yummiest of comforts for his food portfolio!  And the best part is that after all the food styling and photos have been taken, we get to enjoy the ones that didn't make the cut.   How about indulging in a little comfort yourself today?

In the House

For those of you spending the day indoors today due to a massive snowfall, I hope you are having a most wonderful snow day full of anything that you want to do! The photo studio is closed which means I got to sleep in this morning and make an awesome egg breakfast for Joe and I.  Last week Joe was working on a few food photo portfolio samples.  Our place was overrun by props, food, lights, and various yummy smells coming from the kitchen.  The best part for me was getting to feast on some of the food afterwards.  We dined on a surf and turf dinner one night, the crabs were so meaty and tasty dipped in a little butter and the vanilla cake from Bake was so moist and rich. I ended up bringing the rest to work just so I wouldn't be tempted to eat another slice.

Meet Joe

Hi everyone! Today I want to introduce the special person in my life that gets me going, calms me down and puts a smile on my face every time we are together (which just happens to be a lot these days). The funny thing about our relationship is that we went to college together, took the same classes, yet never even glanced in each others direction. It wasn't until he started freelancing as a photographer that our lives crossed paths again. We were work friends for close to 2 years until we started hanging out outside of work. Our relationship grew and developed over our love for tennis (that's what we did on our first date), and since then it has grown to include the outdoors, camping, cooking, and music. The thing I love the most about him, is that he just gets me, in all my silly and goofy ways. I don't have to cover up any parts of who I am when we are together. I get to be me, for good, bad or sad.

We've been living together now for 5 months (and dating for over a year) and although there have been some adjustments and compromises, I still can't believe that he hasn't gotten sick of me. I know that may sound like an odd thing to say, but it's true. Don't you find it fascinating to know of people that have shared there lives together for years or even decades? It's something that sounds so out of reach these days, but I look up to those who can work through issues and come out stronger in the end. Here's hoping :)

Wednesday Wishes

Hi and welcome to another week of Wednesday wishes! I've been craving art this week and since Joe and I are on the verge of moving, we are waiting until we move (in July) to join art forces (mine + his), I am dedicating this weeks post to a few pieces that I've had my eyes on for a while. I am so looking forward to (1.) having more wall space and (2.) displaying art we've collected from independent artists. My collection has taken off after receiving an awesome painting from this talented gal a few weeks ago :) Hopefully there is enough in the budget to include one or more of these great works too! (click on each photo for artist details.)

Don't forget to check out the lovely Katie, Courtney & Kellie to read all about their wishes for today too! And please feel free to join us by posting your own wishes every Wednesday. Just be sure to let one of us know so we can tune in :)

Tag.. Your It!!

Inspired from all the love fests I read about in blogland over the weekend I decided to share with you a free printable download. I printed one of these out for my sweetie and glued it onto his Valentine card envelope with a little message. These are photographed tags with red ribbons attached to each one. When printed they have this great 3D quality to them because, well that's what so great about photography ;) They look great on a card or gift box. Simple and sweet. Enjoy!
